It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for Wine o’ the Week here at the Take-Home Tutor! This week we are featuring (and chugging) the outstanding Altos Ibéricos, a 2012 Tempranillo from the Rioja region of Spain, by Torres Wines. Their beautiful website describes the wine as “Opaque cherry red color. Floral (Damascus rose) and fruit (strawberry, raspberry) aromas with spicy and smoky notes imparted by oak aging. Velvety, smooth, with fine, juicy tannins.” We tried to describe it so eloquently, but only got to a slurred “‘S reallllllly good”. A perfect example of a Rioja wine, this is a vino meant to savor, however difficult it may be to take slowly. After our first successful party, the Tutors (still looking for a cooler name) celebrated over a bottle of Altos Ibéricos, toasting to future endeavors. Lots of “I love yous” were thrown around, and an 80s dance party ensued in the living room. Learn from our mistakes. Stay classy, and enjoy! Happy Imbibing! ¡Salud!
